Tips for Ordering Fabric Online
Over time we have added features to our website to improve our customer’s experience ordering online, which we thought you might like to know.
Tips for ordering fabric online
1. Order Samples
The best way to get an idea of the color, weight and stretch and to see whether it is suitable for what you are wanting to make is to order a sample first. Simply click the Order A Sample button and a sample will be added to your cart. For more information about sample costs and sizes, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions
2. If you think you might need more, order more
The some of our fabrics are designer remnant rolls with a finite quantity available, so to avoid disappointment it’s best to get as much as you think you may need, as it may be all gone by the time you go to re-order, and once our designer fabrics are out of stock they normally can’t be ordered in again.
3. If you need ongoing stock, order from our Stock Service range
We have stock service ranges in poplin, drill, shiny and matte spandex, fog finish, shattered glass lycra, felt, ribbons, threads, haberdashery, nets, stretch mesh, satin, chiffon, sequin fabrics and trims. Look for the pink Stock Service bubble on the product image for stock service items.
4. If you need 8-9m, order 10m (it’s cheaper!)
We offer a discount on all fabrics when you are ordering 10m+ (of the same fabric), so it’s the same cost for 8m as it is for 10m. We offer a discount for 9m+ of felt due to the 9m bolt size and all trims are 10% off for 10m+
5. Get the most out of your postage
Our postage charges go by the number of metres/yards you order, regardless of the fabric or weight. So if you were ordering 4m, the postage cost would be the same to get 5m, so it might be worth getting extra fabric if you think you might use it. Click here to see our shipping rates
6. Order before 11am (EST)
While we can’t guarantee same day shipping, your chances are much higher when ordering before 11am to be sent that day
7. Log in first before placing your order
When you log in as opposed to checking out a Guest, you will have easy access to all your previous orders, wish-list and items in your cart. This will make it easier to re-order fabrics in the future.
8. If the website is saying we don’t have enough stock, just ask us- we may have more in store
If you go to add a particular quantity of a fabric to your cart and the website gives an error message saying that “The requested quantity is not available.”, simply contact us via phone or email and we can check the stock levels in store. While we try to keep this as current as possible, we will often have less stock available online just in case it is purchased in store before we are able to remove it off the website. Always check with us – you may be in luck!
9. Read the full description
While you can add an item to your cart from the gallery view, if you click on the product name it will load up the full description and include information, where possible, about the content, width, weight, stretch and transparency. There is also a mega zoom option, so when you are on your computer you can hover your mouse over the fabric to get an up close look. Some of our older listings aren’t as comprehensive as our newer listings due to improved processes and technology, but if you need more information you can always send us an inquiry through our contact form.
10. Keep an eye out for new fabrics
We add new fabrics to our website each week, sometimes hundreds of them! New fabrics, by default, will show up the top of the page for each category.
